Overview:

The First Aid Levels 1, 2 & 3 Training Programme is a comprehensive, progressive learning pathway designed to equip individuals with life-saving first aid knowledge and advanced emergency response skills for the workplace and beyond. This course is aligned with the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHS Act) of South Africa and is suitable for organisations seeking to ensure full legal compliance and enhanced workplace safety.

From basic emergency response (Level 1) to intermediate injury management (Level 2) and advanced life-saving techniques (Level 3), this programme prepares learners to identify emergencies, assess risks, administer effective first aid, and stabilise casualties until professional medical assistance arrives.

The course is highly practical, focusing on real-life workplace scenarios, hands-on demonstrations, and assessments that build confidence, competence, and leadership in emergency situations.

Course Content

MODULE 1 First Aid Level 1 – Basic Workplace First Aid

First Aid Level 2 builds on Level 1 and equips learners with enhanced skills to manage more serious injuries and medical conditions commonly encountered in higher-risk workplaces.

 

  • Legal framework and OHS Act requirements

  • Principles of first aid and scene safety

  • Primary survey (DRABC)

  • Adult CPR and choking

  • Recovery position

  • Bleeding control and shock management

  • Burns, wounds, and soft tissue injuries

  • Fainting, seizures, and basic medical emergencies

MODULE 2 First Aid Level 2 – Intermediate First Aid Response

First Aid Level 2 builds on Level 1 and equips learners with enhanced skills to manage more serious injuries and medical conditions commonly encountered in higher-risk workplaces.

 

  • Revision of Level 1 content

  • Extended CPR techniques

  • Fractures, dislocations, and spinal injuries

  • Head injuries and unconscious casualties

  • Eye injuries and foreign bodies

  • Poisoning and chemical exposure

  • Heat exhaustion, heat stroke, and hypothermia

  • Asthma, heart attacks, and strokes

MODULE 3:First Aid Level 3 – Advanced First Aid & Emergency Care

First Aid Level 3 is designed for high-risk industries and designated senior first aiders. It provides advanced emergency response and casualty management skills for serious and life-threatening incidents.

  • Advanced patient assessment

  • Multiple casualty incident management

  • Advanced bleeding control techniques

  • Severe trauma and crush injuries

  • Chest injuries and breathing emergencies

  • Advanced shock management

  • Environmental and industrial emergencies

  • Emergency preparedness and reporting
